Artist's Bio - Sheryl Parsons/Mother's Dream Artworks
An old photograph, a shopping trip for fresh fruit, a country drive, the changing of the seasons, all are inspiration for what I do. I am fortunate that my mother instilled in me a love of all venues of creativity. Our dream was to have an art and teaching business. My mom wasn’t able to fulfill that dream, but I pushed forward, thus my studio, Mother’s Dream Artworks.
I am self taught and like to dabble in a variety of mediums, from folk art to fine art. I sculpt and carve using items found in nature such as gourds and driftwood, or repurposed things. I love to paint with acrylics watercolors, pencils and pastels. I also create artisan jewelry. I've won several awards for my work including several ribbons at Wallowa Valley Festival of Art shows in Oregon, and several in the Utah State Fair art competition in Salt Lake City. When I’m not being creative indoors, I’m out in the garden or conversing with my “girls", the five laying hens we have. Since we’ve retired our four grandchildren are about to see a lot more of us.
You can find my work at Uptown Art in Joseph, Oregon, Dry Creek Designs in Wallowa, Oregon, or online at http://mothersdreamartworks.blogspot.com
